Surprise, surprise; everybody loves surprises. That’s why for us here at Rainbow Chan Wedding and Events, one of the top wedding planners and coordinators in Toronto, we’re always pleasantly surprised to witness all the surprising things that life and love brings forth to the couples we’ve met and worked with. Most impressively, our recent work with Oliver & Sharon on planning and coordinating their surprise wedding proposal just this past June 17th, 2017 at Toronto’s exquisite Auberge Du Pommier restaurant and outdoor patio made for a truly surprising, suspenseful and scintillating experience! Oliver & Sharon, a young pair of professionals sharing an alma-mater at McMaster going on their 6th year anniversary together have decided to tie the knot, and it was a real pleasure for us at Rainbow Chan Weddings to have been front and centre at the second when all the pieces of Oliver & Sharon’s puzzle came to place. Awaiting for the moment of truth, a declaration of “yes!” from Oliver’s beloved Sharon would be the real surprise for our planners and coordinators, and the least we could do for Oliver & Sharon in return was to help beautify the beautiful surprise with careful crafting, planning and coordination, to truly wrap up a surprise gift in the most beautiful wrapping it could possibly have. So join us as we recall some of our favorite parts of working with Oliver & Sharon on their surprise wedding proposal, an overview of the ever-captivating Auberge Du Pommier, and a brief review of our always-unique and always surprising design choices for Oliver & Sharon’s wedding proposal celebration that truly gave the magical moment a surprising flair.

Our work with Oliver & Sharon began in the early evening, with our planners and coordinators setting up the décor and floral furnishings that would make Oliver & Sharon’s magical memory truly a magically memorable one. The interesting thing about planning and coordinating a surprise wedding proposal is that we could only rely on the proposer, Oliver, for the setup and preparations; so this was quite a surprise for us as well! All things went swimmingly however, after we’d wired up Oliver with a mic to capture the eternal words; “will you marry me?” Coordinating the moment of truth, right at sundown, was truly an experience to relive. With Oliver guiding his unbeknownst bride-to-be to the “Terrace du Fond” in Auberge Du Pommier’s lower terrace patio, a resounding answer of “yes!” would be the ever-captivating instance that made planning and coordinating Oliver & Sharon’s day truly worth it.
Onto the genuinely impressive venue choice of Toronto’s luxurious Auberge Du Pommier, a magnificently kept and remarkably sophisticated French restaurant just a stone’s throw away from the 401 on Yonge, at the heart of Toronto’s York Mills region. Our planners and coordinators had chosen Auberge Du Pommier for its breathtaking patio furnishings, elegant vibe and romantic atmosphere; and what a choice it would be! From a cursory glance of our attached photo-reel of Oliver & Sharon’s magical moment from start to end, the overall groove given by Auberge Du Pommier as a ‘secret garden’ in midst of midtown Toronto made for an altogether perfect setting for Oliver & Sharon. And with an impressive collection of wines and spirits, Oliver & Sharon kept their spirits high for a truly spirited event!
And finally, a look back at our style choices; what made our work with Oliver & Sharon on planning and coordinating their wedding proposal day worth every bit of effort and time, and what made a beautiful memory for a perfect couple truly shine. Our chosen design goal for Oliver & Sharon centred on sentimentality; a “trip down memory lane” that recalls the steps through which the couple arrived at this penultimate moment, with Oliver on bended knee and Sharon accepting the gift of a ring and a promised vow. Our setup revolved mainly with the “memory lane”, a path aligned by floating candles, thirty glass cylinders and miniature flower arrangements scattered about the sides of the pathway, and at the end, six garden poles which displayed specially selected pictures of Oliver & Sharon’s six year journey from friendship to family. Beside the Auberge Du Pommier’s outdoor patio fountain, a beautifully made “marry me” sign served as the event’s centerpiece. And finally, a gorgeously decorated dining table elegantly arranged with a light floral theme which echoes the miniature flower arrangements that guided the memory lane to the evening’s end.
In short, we here at Rainbow Chan Weddings and Events, Toronto’s premier wedding planners and coordinators, had a wonderful time working with Oliver & Sharon on their magnificent and magnanimous wedding proposal day. We were exceedingly happy to have had the chance to make Oliver & Sharon’s “memory lane” a reality, and we are truly touched that our work in planning and coordinating Oliver & Sharon’s wedding proposal day made for an unforgettably magical evening for the bride and groom to be. We wish the pair all the best, and can’t wait for when we see them on their wedding day!
