The team at Rainbow Chan Weddings & Events was thrilled to have the opportunity to plan the fabulous wedding of Michelle and Abe at the beautiful St. Michael’s Basilica and Liberty Grand. This midsummer celebration took place on July 7, 2018. Planning and coordinating Michele and Abe’s dreamy, romantic and family oriented wedding day was an absolute delight for our team. This couple selected the “month-of planning” services provided by Rainbow Chan Weddings. Our wedding planners were responsible for bringing the whole day together, creating the itinerary and making sure everyone stayed on schedule. No easy task when three different wedding ceremonies are taking place! This beautiful day was jam-packed with family, friends and cultural traditions.
Preparations for this full-day celebration started bright and early! Both bride and groom spent the morning getting ready with their nearest and dearest. This bride had three different outfit changes planned for the day, so photographer Rosetta Li and her team were busy getting detail shots of all three stunning looks. The traditional Chinese red wedding dress, the gown for the Korean ceremony, and the bride’s white dress were all in the line up! While bride and groom got ready, The Rainbow Chan wedding coordinators headed over to Liberty Grand to oversee the setup of all of the wonderful décor elements, including lovely pastel-coloured floral centrepieces. Once everyone was ready, the traditional Chinese tea ceremony was held at the bride’s home – always a wonderful way to integrate tradition into the big day! After the ceremony, the bride had a quick change into her white dress, and the whole group made their way over to the church. Once at the church, bride and groom snuck in a sweet first look so that they could change up the traditional processional order with groom and his parents walking in right before the bride. After the church ceremony, everyone headed out into the sunshine to take some bridal party pictures at Osgoode Hall, and then over to Liberty Grand for the Korean ceremony and reception. The Korean ceremony was led by the groom’s family, and took place in the reception room at Liberty Grand. This ceremony created a fantastic opportunity for a venue reveal as well, which is always a favourite moment for the wedding planners! Once the Korean ceremony was completed and cocktail hour finished, everyone headed into the room for a divine four-course dinner and danced the night away!
The beautiful window filled Renaissance Room at Liberty Grand created a stunning backdrop for this bride and groom’s reception. We love the grand staircase at the front entrance of this venue as well, which creates a dramatic photo op. Florals by J’Adore in pastel colours with giant candles were used along with white linens to compliment the sun-filled space. Each place setting was topped with a charming lavender coloured favor box, which tied in beautifully with the floral arrangements that this bride and groom selected. We also loved that some tall blooms were incorporated into many of the tables to create levels and more visual intrigue. The giant boxwood backdrop installed behind the sweetheart table made an impactful focal point at the front of the room as well!
This celebration and tradition filled day was an absolute joy to plan! Whenever two different cultures merge, there are often many traditional elements that the couple wants to incorporate into their special day. This is where the Rainbow Chan month-of planning package comes in handy, as it did for this couple. We adored the end result of this love-filled day, and wish nothing but happiness to Abe and Michele as they begin their life together! It was a privilege for our team to be part of their wedding and we hope they’ll look back on it fondly for many years to come.
